Reversing and Preventing Diabetes by 68% or More
In a recent post I did about the miracle medicine, I included a link to a short video explaining how daily exercise of 30 minutes will reduce many problems by about 50%. And, on the list of benefits was the fact that exercise is effective in reversing and preventing diabetes by 68%. That’s a major reduction for a problematic condition. It’s even possible to reverse it more and totally get off medications. So, how much exercise would you have to do?
According to the video on the above link, just doing a brisk walk for 30 minutes daily, can really start to help with insulin control and a need for less medication. In fact, it’s helpful for anyone trying to lose weight. Because if your insulin is more efficient, then your blood sugar levels will drop. The goal is to get the sugar into the cells. The problem is that the wrong types of fat are coating the cells making it hard for the insulin to be effective. The important thing is to do some exercise to start using up the fat.
Dr. McDougall talks a lot about having better insulin control for weight loss in his book The Maximum Weight Loss program. He mainly focuses on recommending that people do a fat-free, plant-based diet to bring their insulin under control and get off medications. He strongly encourages the use of exercise in addition to a change of diet. And, he explains how daily exercise is a big key for lowering your blood sugar levels.
At National Institute of Fitness back in the 1990′s, diabetic patients were given a plant-based diet and taken on hikes. The program consisted of lots of exercise and healthy foods during the whole day. People quickly got off insulin and also lost weight effectively with new lifestyle habits of daily exercise and healthier eating routines.
Even on WebMD, there is a story of a man who was able to reverse his diabetes substantially with practical changes in diet and lifestyle. Instead of watching shows as a family, he and his wife and children started new family traditions of getting physically active in ways that they enjoyed. Together, they all made better choices for their meals. So, not only did his diabetic condition improve, but his family also enjoyed much better health.
