Healthy Grains for Bones, Muscles and Weight Loss
There is a lot of propaganda to turn people from the eating of grains to the eating of animals. Some of the arguments are that grains have toxins and cause weight gain. Grains are actually the better choice if you want to keep the calcium in your bones and lose weight. Furthermore, they supply healthy fuel for your muscles.
Of course, there are are many tasty, healthy ways to use grains. And they will be the better choice than refined white bread or pasta for weight loss and health. Cooking the various grains can be easier than boiling pasta. But, you can even lose weight on a bread diet no matter what type of bread you choose. There are two many reasons that grains are better for weight loss.
- Grains provide healthy carbohydrates for maximum weight loss. The only way you can gain weight with grains is if you exceed your daily calorie requirements for your ideal weight or goals. If you eat so many grains that it goes beyond your calorie needs for the day, it will turn to fat. You can’t gain weight on grains unless you overeat. However, meats, dairy, and eggs have a lot of fat that the body will put into storage. The only way you can lose weight with animal products is to go on a semi-starvation diet.
- Grains provide healthy protein for your muscles. The muscles store some of the carbohydrates in your muscles. This will not make you look fat. It is a natural body need. During exercise, these carbs provide energy and get used up, then the body starts to use the fats in storage. The protein in animal products contribute toward constipation, the growth of cancer, and kidney damage.
Toxins in Grains and Animal Products
Animal products have more toxins than grains ever did. Animals store pesticides in their fat. Even if you eat grains that are not organic and have been sprayed, the cheese, milk, egg, or meat you consume will have many times more pollutants.
Avoiding Bone Loss
Animal products have an acidic effect on the body, which contributes to bone loss. The body takes calcium out of the bones to counteract the drastic acidic effect on the blood. Grass grains such as wheat, barley, and rye have some phytic acid on the outside of the grain, which inhibits the absorption of calcium. But, you still keep the calcium that is in your bones, and you can soak the grains prior to use in order to release the phytic acid.
