Maximum Weight Loss

I like Dr. McDougall’s Maximum Weight Loss program because it is the maximum way to lose weight while preventing and reversing disease. On the Healing Diet, people have all kinds of miracles, but they can’t quite lose all the weight that they want to. The MWL program is more restrictive and challenging at first.

The maximum weight loss program is the best for health.  I will share posts in the category section to help you with ideas and recipes that have good nutrition for not only weight loss, but also healing.

This is a support place to help you as you try to make it work.  I look forward to starting a group discussion from those of you who are currently doing it. If you have a recipe idea, comment, question or a testimonial, go ahead and share it here.

    Hi Janet,

I have a a question for you and I know you will help me to more research on this subject. My son has AS (ankylosing Spondilities). Was diagnosed recently. Came from a bout of food poisoning. He had been very active man, then started suffering from spinal problems. Come to find out following much research that the traditional way to help him was devastating injections with many side affects. He opted out of that and researched natural methods.

He how is on a starch free diet. Not gluten free starch free. This is the only way to help with the inflammation of his spine and the terrible pain he was experiencing. This has been an answer following many prayers and research. The foods he can eat are meats, yogurt, vegetables which have no or very minimal starch and limited fruits.

My question is since I have stopped eating meats myself and have encouraged my family to limit their intake of meats, I would like to know if you have other suggestions. Starch free eliminates all grains, potatoes of all types, even butternut squash, rice also it limits his intake of carrots and other good starches.

What is complicating this is he found out that he also has candida and soon will be needing to deduct from his limited options of foods, sugars, milk all yeast product like cheeses.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks girl!

    Hi Fatha,

Wow! That sounds like a lot of problems with your older son. I am not a doctor or an expert on disease, so I don’t know. It’s good that he went to the doctor to get diagnosed. I bet that all costs a lot though.

I think it’s good that he has done some research. All I know is that when people eat right, their body starts to heal on it’s own. And, if I were in his shoes, I would continue fervently praying for answers. There is a book called Who Killed Candida that deals with the candida problem really well that he may want to read. And, the book from class; Of These Ye May Freely Eat has a page in back about the same proper ways to eat that help with candida.

I also think the Ann Wigmore Institute and Hallelujah Acres all have wonderful programs for fast healing of the body with foods. Ann Wigmore encourages a lot of sprouting, plant-based yogurts, and raw foods, which would be helpful since he is off starches. Also, hacres has super-nutrition products that help people to heal fast from within.

I don’t trust the diets that say starch is bad, when humans have digestive enzymes for it. However, if he ate a lot of bad starch previous to this problem, I can see how the good starches could be a problem.

It doesn’t set right with me that he is finding information to eat a lot of meat, that will have consequences I think. It often makes you feel good with other problems later because of cortisol (I think). Sprouts have more nutrition and better protein. The information he has found may be right though since he prayed about it, so he will have to experiment I guess.

    Thank you for updating me!

Hey, i was wondering what the appropriate weight i should be is. I am 5’4″. Also how can i lose 20 pounds before summer? Thanks!

That’s a great question. I’m 5’4″ also. Finding your appropriate weight will depend on your height, body frame size, your gender, and age. I’m including a link to help you figure yours out. It has a special calculator that will calculate your ideal weight based on your answers. http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

Trying to lose 20 pounds before summer is unrealistic and will be too much to accomplish healthfully. There is only one month left to do it in. But, if you are in a hurry to look trim, you can read the posts for the weight loss category on this site and get plenty of helpful ideas and recipes as well as working out at a gym to build muscle and exercising daily. Building muscle uses more calories and helps you become trim faster. You can at least get off to a great start and reach your goal in 2-3 months.
